Paralegalism Campaigners today interacted  with Dalit women in Kailali district. The  campaigners gathered in a  village in Dhangadhi  to listen to the stories of Dalit women.

On the occasion poet and Paralegalism campaigner Rama Bhattarai recited a poem “  I want to hear you“ . It is the discrimination I faced that brought me  into poetry , she said. She asked the women to share their experiences of  how they dealt with discrimination.

Paralegalism campaigner Rajkumar Jairu recited a poem “ Speak “ by Faiz Ahmed Faiz . The poem “Speak “ is considerd  revoutionary as it embodies the spirit of progressive movement:

Speak,  your lips are free

      Speak ,it is your own tongue

   Speak, it is your own body

      Speak , your life is still yours

Dinesh Nepali said , women have long been  waiting for their rights to transalte into reality. Women’s justice is long overdue. It is time Justice is ensured for women. We can not afford to wait for one more century.

Paralegal Rita Parki said , being a woman is difficult . I have my own lessons.  But as a paralegal I have been teaching fellow women  in the village , that it is beautiful experience to be a woman. We have to be proud of it.

Saamana Tamatta shared her  experience as a community paralegal and  how legal empowerment could bring positive change in lives of women.

Suneeta Parki a local homemaker said , our mindset has not changed we  prefer male child to female even today. It is in our  families where discrimination starts.  We still do not have a voice.

President of Campaign for Promotion of Community Paralegalism in Nepal ( CPCPN) Prabhakar Bagchand explained how listening to women was first step towards empowerment. Voices of women have not been given due importance. We should listen their voice and understand them. Prabbhakar Bagchand concluded the meeting by saying women have to feel safe to speak in our houses,  in our communities and in our country.
