Rally organized in Far West Nepal in support of people of Myanmar

Civil society leaders, journalists and the  general public gathered in Dhangadhi of Far West Nepal on Thursday to take part in a  rally calling for restoration of democracy in Myanmar. People rallied outside the  District Administration Office in Dhangadhi in response to the  killing of civilians by the military. Demonstrators carried banners with slogans ” Military Junta end the war against your own people” , ” democracy for the people of Myanmar”” World leaders take action against the military”,    Long live the revolution”.
The  rally started from the  District Administration Office and culminated at Triveni Chowk under a  Peepal (sacred Fig) tree. The rally was organized  by following  necessary covid -19  health protocols.
We have come here to register our condemnation of the Myanmar military regime. Assault on democracy anywhere is an assault on democracy everywhere. By speaking for Myanmar we are speaking for ourselves, we are speaking for Justice ,  said rights activist Prabhakar Bagchand addressing the rally.
Speaking on the occasion right activist ,  journalist and poet Rama Bhattarai said, keeping silent can not be an option. Our voice can give strength to the people of Myanmar. The whole world needs to speak against Myanmar dictators.
It is an  irony  that  democracy is under threat around the world like never before, said activists Dinesh Nepali and Rajkumar Jairu.
The killing of people in Myanmar has to stop immediately. A united world can bring down the military in Myanmar, said  Rakschya Bagchan.

This is the first time the  public has gathered outside Kathmandu  in a centre like Dhangadhi in support of people of Myanmar.
